The Halloween which changed my life
It was a dank drizzly autumn morning and my teenage kids, aged 13 and 15, were having a half-term lie in. It was so bleak outside, it was as if the sun had also decided to stay in bed. But the weather was the least of my worries as I raced around the house like a mad thing, hurling kids dirty clothes into the washing machine, checking we had something edible in for dinner, and praying that the traffic wouldn’t be too bad on the way to the train…
